For privacy I will not disclose this cuties name but isn’t he just a ham! He was a tricky little man! He was not having pictures this day… But man did we work some magic.

Finally got him to sleep for a whole 5 minutes!

Newborn sessions are tough. So many things you didn’t know it entails. As many of you parents know, we go off the baby schedule, not our own timeline. This little man definitely made me work for that shot! He didn’t want to nap, didn’t want to be swaddled, and you can count being naked out of the question!

But there is a trick to tricky babies…

Believe it or not, babies can sense and smell when momma and daddy are in the room. Typically the sense of the parents in the room keep the baby on alert.

Wanting the warmth of comfort of his parents and the milk momma has, when baby E’s parents stepped out of the room to get something from the car. I jumped on that opportunity. Within a few seconds I got him to sleep… and ALL of the images you see from this entire gallery was from the 10 minutes they stepped out…

I even managed to get some grumpy little looks from little man wide awake! If he could talk, I’m sure he was wondering what this crazy lady with a giant camera is doing in his face!

When working with newborns I try to take portraits of all their tiny details. Within days these little parts of them begin to grow and fade. The furry backs are gone, the milk bumps hide… The wrinkles soften… So I try to capture as many little details as possible.
